PLANNING WITH INTENTION: THE FIRST STEP TOWARD REBRANDING YOUR LIFE

BEHIND THE SCENES

Not too long ago, I felt stuck in a job I hated. I was miserable and literally living on auto pilot because my nervous system was constantly on high-alert. I had just earned a degree in graphic design, landed a job with a toxic environment, and was terrified that this was my new reality. I was so scared that the next 30 plus years of my life would feel just like that. I KNEW I could not continue that way. I realized that I didn’t need a new life. I needed a new way to live the one I had. I was the only one who could change these circumstances and I could not give up, because I knew I deserved more and I wanted better for myself. 

I got to work diving into my interests, my passions, I also landed a new full-time job with a MUCH BETTER work environment. Now I am building a brand I am passionate about, and I am designing tools and resources to help others do the same. I feel fulfilled and I am so eager to keep learning, growing, and enjoying the journey. My whole outlook on daily life has changed for the better because I did not give up on myself.

THE STRUGGLE OF NOT HAVING A SYSTEM

Without a good system to improve ourselves and ultimately our lives, we will merely be victims of our circumstances. Not having a system means you’re living in reaction mode, constantly stressed and fatigued. Without a system, you will have a lack of clarity about the direction of your life. This leads to feeling stuck and stagnant. Hard work is meaningful, but if you work harder at the wrong things and don’t have a good system for the work, it won’t get you to where you want to go. 

THE POWER OF INTENTIONAL PLANNING

Intentional planning is all about having a direction and vision for your life, and having a system that allows you to reach your goals. 

LET ME BE CLEAR, everything does not always go to plan. Life happens. Curve balls get thrown our way. Or maybe we don’t meet our goals but discover a love of something new in the process. It’s all about the journey. Self-development is never a waste, no matter what capacity that it’s in. Investing in yourself is ALWAYS worthwhile. 

WE DESERVE to grow, improve, and live our best lives, every single day. Intentional planning will help us accomplish this!

THE SMALLEST SHIFTS WILL MAKE THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE

Along with doing the physical work of planning, mindset shifts will play a HUGE role in changing your daily life. It took me a couple of years to change my mindset around working out, doing things that make me happy even if no one else sees the value in it, and finding the positive aspects in my daily job and responsibilities. 

One of things that has made the biggest difference for me is asking myself what I want from life. This may seem silly, or like it’s common sense. But when I was trying to dig myself out of a place where I was going through the motions, I had to create a compass for myself. I had to give myself a sense of direction and something to work toward. As you do this and as you work toward goals, you will figure out what you like, what you’re good at, what you’re curious about, what you want out of life. Your compass can be adjusted as needed. But if you never ask yourself these questions, you will be missing out on the clarity it brings.

Keep in mind, the journey is meant to be fun. Life is about changing, growing, and improving. Find pieces of the process that are enjoyable and that you will look forward to in your day. Some actions that will help you (such as working out) may not be fun for you right now. Find ways to get movement that feel good to you. It will be easier to build the habit if you can find methods you enjoy. As you start showing up for yourself and seeing how the workouts improve your physical and mental health, your mindset around it will change! You will be more confident and will start to prioritize taking care of yourself. But you have to start, and be consistent, to see those results and to rewire your mindset.
