I Crashed Out for a Week

What burnout looked like for me, and how I found my way back.

October Bloog - I Crashed Out for A Week - tips to combat burnout

So, I crashed out.

That may not sound like a big deal, but for me, it was.

I’m someone who works full-time, part-time on the side, and is building this brand I love. I’m used to being “on” 24/7. Which is completely unrealistic, I know. But when burnout hit, it felt like failure.

Maybe you’ve been there too; the mental fog, the weight of too much, the sense that you’re moving but not actually moving forward. If that’s you, I hope my story helps you spot the signs sooner or gives you hope that you can come back from it.

Burnout doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your system needs a reset.

How It Started

I had a week where I felt unstoppable. I prepped my content, laid out my tasks, and was buzzing with motivation to reach out to new clients.

Then Monday hit.

Something happened at my day job that left me feeling disrespected, insecure, and anxious. I tried to shake it off, but the weight just grew heavier. And because I’d already been running on empty, this one small spark triggered the avalanche.

The ENITRE rest of the week? I felt drained. Sad. Stuck. Like all my progress had evaporated overnight.

But here’s what I want you to know: burnout doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your system needs a reset. And while I couldn’t tackle everything, I did a few things that helped me crawl back into the light.

What Helped Me Recover

My Planner (yes, really)
Even on my worst week, my planner gave me structure. I focused only on the must-dos and let the rest go. I tracked water, movement, and basic care so I didn’t spiral further. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is scale back. (This is the heart of what I teach inside Your Lifestyle Rebrand; how to create a system that bends with your life, not breaks you when life gets messy.)

Movement
Science backs it up, moving your body resets your nervous system and supports your mental health. Walks gave me perspective. Harder workouts gave me strength. Both reminded me I’m in control of something.

Journaling
I didn’t rehash the details of the event that upset me (too draining), but I wrote down the response I wished I could give and it freed my brain from replaying it. I also jotted down gratitude, which shifted me from scarcity to abundance.

Quality Time
My partner, my parents, even a coworker; they reminded me I wasn’t carrying this alone. Being with people who see you fully makes hard things feel survivable.

Me-Time Rituals
A lazy Saturday of thrifting, movies, and light chores reset me more than any productivity hack ever could. When you step away, you make space to come back stronger. Sometimes you just need to turn “off” for a day, no matter how wrong it may feel.

Personal Therapy (on a budget)
For me, that’s planning, thrifting, designing new planner goodies, and shopping my stash! For you, maybe it’s coffee, baking, or shopping your own closet. Little joys matter. They don’t have to be expensive, they just need to spark joy and shift your energy.

Moving into Fall

Here’s my plan for this season:

  • More time for passion projects (like designing new Etsy goodies).
  • Cozy thrifting finds for my new home.
  • Continuing to grow my business so I can step fully into self-employment.
  • And most importantly: savoring life instead of racing through it.

I switched out my seasonal dashboard for fall and wrote down my top 3 things I want to focus on, plus broke down some of my goals this season! Find the Seasonal Dashboard Set in my shop!

Your Reminder

If you take anything from my story, let it be this: burnout is not weakness. It’s a signal. Your brain and body are begging for systems that let you breathe, reflect, and grow. You need a system that allows for productivity, progress, AND time for your passions.

That’s why I created Your Lifestyle Rebrand.

It’s not another planner you’ll abandon by February. It’s a framework that clears mental clutter, helps you design routines that actually fit your life, and rebuilds trust with yourself so you can follow through.
